Steve Horton is a life-long resident of Longview, leaving only to complete his BBA at the University of Texas in 1976. After college, Steve and his family founded Toys ’N Things in 1978, one of the first businesses on the brand new Loop 281. After 16 years in retail, they decided to take a new path.
Steve founded Steve Horton Insurance Agency in 1996, which was a past winner of the prestigious Safeco Presidents Award. He later joined Woodbine Mortgage and Financial group for a few years, and in 2007, he returned to his own agency until joining his office with the Charles Tomberlain Insurance Agency in 2018.
Steve is an avid fisherman and gardener. His passion for over 50 years has been supporting Christian children’s homes in the State of Texas, including Boles Home in Quinlan, Medina Children’s Home in Medina, and the Sherwood and Myrtie Foster Home for Children in Stephenville. He has been married to his West Texas girl, Mitzi Horton, for 38 years, and has three children and 2 grandchildren.
