Cole grew up in Longview and graduated from Spring Hill High School in 2007. In 2010, he graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.B.A., majoring in Business Communications and Legal Studies. After returning to Longview to join the family business, Cole became heavily involved in a long list of non-profits. He was the founding chairman of Bourbon & Bowties, the official fundraiser for the the Longview World of Wonder’s Hands on Discovery Center. In just 4 short years, this event netted over $500,000 for the museum. Cole was also a founding board member of the Young Professionals of Longview, which has grown to over 180 members in just a few short years. In addition to his non-profit work, Cole is also on various advisory boards and committees. The one closest to his heart is the Stephen F. Austin Nelson Rusche College of Business Advisory Council. Cole serves alongside Ken Murphy, CEO and President of Mattress Firm, Gary Lee Ashcraft, United Way CEO, Jason Crager Production Operations Manager for Lockheed Martin, and a small handful of other executives who also graduated from SFA.
At the age of 23, Cole took over both Charles Tomberlain Insurance Agency and Tomberlain Properties following a family crisis. Under Cole’s leadership, the Good Lord has blessed their agency with a number of awards including the Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, the Safeco Insurance President’s Award for 8 consecutive years, and the Award of Excellence.
